MIC-6 Ion Chromatography Description
Usually it is not the analysis itself which causes problems but the sample matrix in which the analysis has to be carried out. The modular anion system with chemical suppression, sample preconcentration and matrix elimination allows two major steps to be taken towards the simplification of sample preparation: on the one hand matrix effects can be eliminated, on the other hand the preconcentration technique can be used to provide reliable measurements at low concentrations:
The contaminated sample is transferred to the sample loop of the first valve by the peristaltic pump built into the 766 IC Sample Processor. The valve is switched and now transfers deionized water fed by the 752 IC Pump Unit and the sample to the preconcentration column positioned on valve 2. The deionized water is simultaneously used to wash the contaminants from the preconcentration column. These steps can be repeated as often as necessary. When the preconcentrated sample volume is large enough valve 2 is switched and the sample is transferred to the separating column - without the interfering matrix.
Matrix elimination significantly increases the working life of anion and cation columns. Sample preconcentration extends the range of applications. Automation reduces the costs per sample. The Metrohm IC Systems allow all requirements to be met reliably.
