MIC-4 Ion Chromatography Description
The modular anion or cation system with electronic suppression and preconcentration is extended by a further two components when compared with the simple anion/cation system consisting of the 709 IC Pump, 732 IC Detector and 733 IC Separation Center: these are the 766 IC Sample Processor and a preconcentration column which is positioned on the injection valve instead of the sample loop.
The built-in peristaltic pump of the 766 Sample Processor transfers your standard to the preconcentration column followed by your samples. The enriched sample is then transferred to the separating column in counterflow.
As the system can be operated completely sealed - by hermetically sealing the sample vessels - it is also possible to calibrate and work down to the ppt range.
The system works economically with electronic suppression, which is characterized by the peak areas and heights being directly proportional to the concentration of the corresponding ion throughout a wide range. This means that a 1-point calibration is normally sufficient; this both accelerates the work and makes it easier.
