The cost of ownership of this instrument is unusually low.
The 792 Basic IC requires no external gas supply - both the IC pump and the injection valve do their jobs accurately without needing nitrogen or helium. If care is taken that no particles contaminate the system then the built-in MSM Metrohm Suppressor Module will work reliably and accurately for many years.
Eluents and regeneration and rinsing solutions are cheap to prepare. Even with a high sample throughput the running costs can be kept very low. That the software belongs to the instrument and does not need to be purchased separately is a matter of course.
The 792 Basic IC comes with a practical textbook written by Metrohm IC specialists. It provides an illustrative introduction to the basic principles of ion chromatography in which the theory is explained both simply and at a more demanding level; it also describes 22 experiments which cover the whole world of ion chromatography.
