In all its therapeutic indications, the recommended dose should be strictly respected. The 200 mg form of micronized progesterone is to be used when the dose of micronized progesterone required is equal or superior to 200 mg/day. In any event, whatever the indication and route of administration, the dose should not exceed a single 200 mg capsule at one time. Oral route On average for progesterone insufficiencies, the daily dose of progesterone is 200 to 300mg. It is recommended to take the medicine in between meals, preferably in the evening at bedtime. * In luteal insufficiency (pre-menstrual syndrome, benign mastopathy, menstrual irregualrity, pre-menopause) the habitual therapeutic regimen is 200 to 300 mg per day : +either 200 mg in one intake at bedtime, +or 300 mg in two intakes, for 10 days per cycle, usually from the 17th to the 26th day included of the cycle. * In hormone replacement therapy of the menopause, isolated estrogen replacement therapy is inadvisable (risk of endometrial hyperplasia) : 200 mg daily of progesterone should be added : + in two administration of 100 mg each, if the 100 mg form is used. + or 200 mg in one intake at bedtime, either 12 to 14 days per month, or the last two weeks of each therapeutic cycle. This replacement therapy must be discontinued for around one week during which withdrawal bleeding usually occur. |
