NP1200 is a QoS based Fast Ethernet Layer 2 Switch with application awareness features. With up-to date manageable L2 switch functions, it has embedded QoS engine core on built in Network Processing Unit to provide detail monitoring and controllability of internet traffic based on any combinations of each VLAN ID, 802.1p field, IP address, protocol, TOS value, and service port numbers.Operator can define maximum 8K of classification rules with 4K of traffic policies, and each rules contains an action among permit, deny, remark, or rate limiting. And traffic policy can be defined with minimum bandwidth, maximum bandwidth, and priority, which is pointed by multiple rules.More over, NP1200 also provides dynamic bandwidth allocation or overbooking feature with automatically providing dormant bandwidth resources of some policies to bandwidth starving policies, which is not supported on normal Layer 2/3/4 switching systems.As a result, this product helps to make robust QoS based enterprise network with dropping hacking, virus, or useless packets, avoiding congestions, and rearranging priority and speed of various kind of mission critical traffics by monitoring and defining QoS rules and policiesGUI based NP1200?s EMS also gives a single point of configuration facility for multiple hundred numbers of NP1200 systems to operators, which enables ISP to provide premium service for multiple leased network customers, too.
